From 5 Bigha to 20: How a Halvad Farmer Transformed His Groundnut Yield

Sep 2025 6 min read GoAgro Team

In Kharif 2023, Rameshbhai Patel from Devipur village near Halvad was farming 5 bigha of groundnut — using retained seeds his family had grown for over a decade. His yield that season: 14 maund. Enough to survive, but nowhere near enough to grow.

The Turning Point

A neighbour who had switched to Pragati Super 24 was harvesting 24 maund from the same 5 bigha — nearly 70% more. Rameshbhai came to GoAgro Enterprise before Kharif 2024, sceptical but curious.

"I had used the same seeds for 10 years. I thought new seeds were just marketing. But my neighbour's field was proof I could not ignore." — Rameshbhai Patel, Devipur

What We Did Together

Our agronomist assessed his field: loamy sand soil, one bore well, previous groundnut monoculture for 6 years. We recommended Pragati Super 24 for drought tolerance and shorter maturity — ideal for his irrigation constraints — along with a full seed treatment protocol and gypsum at pegging stage.

The Results — Kharif 2024

Gross Income~₹28,000~₹52,000
Net Profit~₹20,000~₹39,000

Scaling Up — Rabi 2025

Encouraged by the results, Rameshbhai expanded to 20 bigha — leasing additional land — using Pragati Super 37 for its shorter cycle and dormancy suited to the Rabi window. His GoAgro agronomist continued to support him throughout the season.

Today, Rameshbhai is one of our most vocal advocates — a farmer who transformed his livelihood with the right seed and the right support. Want a similar assessment for your farm? Call us at +91 95108 75234.
